First Week of October

Woo! We’re officially one week into the bestest month around: OCTOBER! šŸ˜€ If you’re like me, October is basically a month-long celebration of Halloween and just fall in general. After seeing the lovely weekly update post Cupcakes & Machetes put together to sum up her adventures throughout each week of the month, I decided to be a copycat and join in on that fun. So here we have my first of four weekly updates for the month of October:

The first thing I decided to do once October hit was to bust out the sharpies and ink pens and finally participate in Inktober. (If you don’t know already, this is a month-long art challenge held each year where artists produce a new ink drawing each day of the month.) Anyone can participate and it’s a good way to brush up on your ink/art skills. šŸ™‚ I know I have a very busy month ahead of me, so I’m going to do as many as I can each week, but I’m not putting pressure on myself to get all 31 done. I’m doing this strictly for fun and practice. šŸ™‚ Here are my new ink drawings I was able to get done this week:

day 1

day 2.1
This one is based off some cool vintage Halloween art I found.

day 3.3 (2)day 4.1 (2)

Other Halloween/Fall-related activities this week included:

Making delicious apple cider slushies.

Getting gifted (and trying) some delicious types of apples I’d never had before.

Watching a couple horror movies. I started off slow, only watching The Witch and Hell Fest, but it’s a start, and the month is still young! šŸ™‚

Mr. Moth and I worked on putting together our costumes for a big, upcoming event we’re attending for Halloween. (More details on that at a later time!) šŸ˜‰

I worked more on decorating my room at work for Halloween. One of my bulletin boards is decked out in The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and the other is a big tree I made with fall leaves filled with skeleton owls I had my group work on for Arts & Crafts day. šŸ™‚ It turned out really cute.

I finally finished reading (and will soon be posting a review for) the book Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues, by Diana Rowland.

Aaaand that about sums up my first week of October. What spooky and fall type fun have you been up to so far this month? šŸ™‚

    1. Haha you’d have to come to work with me. We have an amazing slushie machine there. You can make any flavor slushie just by pouring whatever kind of drink you want in it. You don’t need ice or anything else, so it is insanely easy to do. šŸ™‚ And thanks, luv! ā¤ Gonna post that review tonight. šŸ™‚

  1. Love the drawings. Especially the blonde chick. Sounds like you’ve been busy and have a lot more on the cards. Halloween isn’t huge over here and two of my kids will be on a holiday so I think we might take the youngest trick or treating. Knowing her she’ll want to be a ninja turtle or super girl hehe. Did you like The Witch?

    1. Thank you! šŸ™‚ It’s been fun practicing more again. I’m looking forward to sharing the next batch this coming week since I feel like I’m finding my groove again now that I’ve been forcing myself to draw more for Inktober.
Haha I like your daughter’s possible costume ideas. Especially the ninja turtle one. šŸ™‚
I did like The Witch, although I will admit it isn’t one I would recommend to a lot of people since I could see a LOT of people hating it. It’s strange and sort of a slow burn horror film. I did enjoy it, though.

    1. Haha Nice. That sounds like one of the best possible types of rampages you could be caught in the middle of. šŸ˜›
I’ve actually never tried making an apple pie. It’s on my unofficial bucket list of things to do this fall. My mom recently baked this amazing sort of apple upside down cinnamon cake. (Hard to describe but delicious to eat.)

  2. I love your Inktober stuff! I should get a tattoo in October one year, and that can be my Inktober since I can’t draw very well :p I’m doing Preptober this weekend for NaNoWriMo (omg us millennials have so many new words lol. I’m kind of on the cusp, but I share all of the woes). I really love the ghost ā™„ I’m watching Let’s Plays of Silent Hill for spooky time, but I didn’t want something TOO scary. It’s more unsettling and kinda bonkers because no one seems phazed by the bat shit stuff going on lol.

    1. Thank you so much! ā¤ Haha I love the Inktober tattoo idea. šŸ™‚ I hope Preptober has been going well for you and that you absolutely crush NaNoWriMo! Good luck! Can't wait to find out how you do this year! ā¤

      1. Uhhhh lol. It hasn’t been going so well so far. I’ve been sick and my concentration has been awful, but I’m not depressed about it. It’s more complicated than I thought it was going to be, and I’ve been having problems started. I’ve gotten a little under 200 words, but I’ve never really worried about making the 50k word total. How have you been doing? Oh are you on the NaNo site? My screen name is TheShamefulNarcissist just like here šŸ™‚
