Lost and Found

dust

Phew, looks like it’s time to clear out some of the dust and cobwebs from this little old blog! It’s been over a month since my last post. Life has been hectic (which I’m coming to realize is just kind of my norm anymore) and I’ve been in a weird funk adjusting to some major changes in my day to day life. Anyway, I won’t bore ya with the details, but I will say it’s good to be back. ❤ Special thanks to my partner in crime (Cupcakes and Machetes) for the reminder and motivational kick in the ass to get back to blogging! 😉

Part of the moody little funk I’ve been in has had me watching a lot more TV and movies than I usually do. Generally it’s something I can’t stand to do for long (even if I’m really enjoying the content) but yeahhh, the struggle’s been real.

One show I’ve gotten into recently is A Discovery of Witches. I also added the first book of the series to my TBR list. Has anyone read them? Any good? Inquiring minds wanna know! I am consistently blown away by the “scenery porn” as I call it. Seriously, every episode just has absolutely gorgeous background scenery that makes me want to pack my bags and get traveling right this instant. The show definitely goes at a slowww pace which might bore some viewers, but (oddly enough) I’m enjoying it. It’s keeping my interest. I mean, with witches, vampires, demons and alchemy, how could it not? Anyone else watching it?

Another show I surprised myself with recently was the new Netflix show Dead to Me. Totally not my usual type of show, but I binge-watched the whole first season in a shamefully fast amount of time.

Oh, and of course, it’s Game of Thrones season, so ya know, Mr. Moth and I have been screaming and cheering at the TV each Sunday night like a couple of rabid football fans during the Super Bowl. It’s so bitter-sweet knowing it’s the final season! Can’t wait to see how it all ends. 😀

Another show I got into is The Act on Hulu. Based off the real life murder of Dee Dee Blanchard and the events that led up to it. It gives some dark insight into the abuse and manipulation that went on in that home. It was really interesting to watch and I remember being blown away by the case when it hit the news, so the show drew me right in as well.

ANYWAY, despite currently being sick with a cold I’m determined to pull myself out of this little funk by my bootstraps. Time to dive back into being productive and getting shit DONE.  I hope you guys have all been doing well, and I look forward to catching up with all my awesome blogging buddies! ❤

  1. Welcome back IM, and the situation you describe is precisely why I don’t watch TV! That said, GoT is the one for me – and the Thronecast follow-up show… it has reduced my painting output by 30%, but is just so damn good… Not sure how I feel about it ending so imminently though! :-/

  2. I’ve been struggling with the choice of whether to watch A Discovery of Witches OR read the books first. The first book has been on my list for years and I’ve just never gotten around to it.
I’ve been hearing good things about Dead to Me, but I haven’t made that plunge yet. I’m trying to save TV shows for during the week after work and doing outside stuff (weather permitting) on the weekends.
You should check out the Netflix show Bonding. It’s super short but really good. (I know, I know, thanks for giving you yet ANOTHER show to try lol.)

    1. Hmm . . . that IS a tough call. Usually I prefer to read the source material and then watch the show or movie, but sometimes it works out okay the other way around, too. 🙂
Yeah, Dead to Me was really good. If you give it a go, hopefully you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. And that’s a really good plan saving TV and all that for the week rather than the weekend. I’ll have to give that Bonding show a shot. Chris and I were talking about giving it a watch recently, so I’m glad to hear it’s good! 😀

      1. The exception to the week-only TV rule is if I’ve spent an entire day being really productive. Then, I give myself permission to binge watch whatever I want until I can’t keep my eyes open anymore. 😉

    1. Thanks! 😀
Yeah, Dead to Me was really good. Hulu is pretty similar to Netflix but they have a different variety of shows and movies on there. I don’t actually watch it as much as I watch Netflix, but it gets some interesting stuff on there from time to time. Yeah, The Act was really good. It was even crazier knowing that it was based off true events/people and not just some insane story some writers cooked up.

  3. I haven’t read the witch book series but kinda want to watch the series. After you mentioned the scenery, even more so!
Dead To Me also caught my eye on Netflix. For now i added to my list to watch next. I’m really into the original CSI now and also watching another on Netflix called Unforgotten. It’s really awesome, and some episodes were shot in Salisbury and Brighton which is also super pretty ❤

  4. I have watched the first season of A Discovery of Witches and really enjoyed it! 😀 I can’t wait for the second one to come out. Also, I have read the book and I hated it. I did read it many years ago, so I just remember being beyond bored while reading it.
I hope you feel better soon and that your cold goes away fast! ❤

    1. Aw, thank you! ❤ I'm feeling so much better now. 😀
I agree, can't wait for season 2 of A Discovery of Witches. Thanks for the info on the book version, too. 🙂 It's rough reading when a book bores you to death like that. lol

  5. I think you recommended Dead to Me to…er me LOL. I need to check it out. Have you seen Russian Doll yet? Soooo good.

I’ve been obsessively playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and obsessing over this one character ZOMG *fangirling* Between that, GOT, and editing, I’ve been my normal flurry of busy. Glad to see you back 🙂 ♥
