Oof, March has been an absolute whirlwind of a month. It’s been quite the mix of high and low points. Registering for classes, family health emergencies, the sudden loss of a wonderful friend who taught me so much about life and brought so much joy to everyone who knew her, house and yard projects and repairs, and many other things have had me a bit stressed these past few weeks to say the least.
I did manage to squeeze in a bit of practice on my art tablet, taking some old sketches and outlining and coloring them digitally as seen below:
Β
Started playing Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U with Mr. Moth so that’s been a fun distraction from some of the more stressful stuff that’s been going on lately.
I think the only thing I baked this month was a dark chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Soooo good! β€
I haven’t finished reading anything new at all this month. My mood has been all over the place, which also means my reading preferences have been just as erratic. I did start reading Leigh Bardugo’s The Lives of Saints and re-reading Shadow & Bone in preparation for the Netflix show coming out. It’s been like 7 or 8 years I think since I read S&B so I was definitely due for a refresher before the show starts. I always think it’s interesting to see the differences between a show or movie and its source material. I also started reading this big ol’ Encyclopedia of Witchcraft & Demonology that had belonged to my grandma back in the day. It’s something I have read bits and pieces from but never completed reading from start to finish so I’d like to finally do that. I’m not in a rush though, It’s a lot of information that I’d rather take my time and read here and there rather than all at once.
All the critters are doing well. Luna the baby hedgehog at my work is getting sooo big. She’s “quilling” right now so she’s a little grumpy at times but the Aveeno Oatmeal baths we’ve given her have helped a lot. Quilling is basically a process that can take up to 6 months of age where she will slowly be losing her baby quills here and there and having them replaced with her big girl quills. Here’s a pic of her after her first Oatmeal bath. She was so happy and relaxed afterward.
Bailey’s been living her best life, as always. π Mr. Moth got her one of those little flower-shaped kitty water fountains and she LOVES it. It’s funny because he wasn’t exactly Team Cat before Bailey and I lived with him and he’s since turned into this Turbo Cat Dad, spoiling her rotten and researching things to make sure she is the happiest kitty she can be. β€
My parents new fluff monster is also doing really well. π He had his first vet appointment and got a clean bill of health. He did really well while he was there and so he got a special “Shit Happens” treat from the doggy bakery. Kind of appropriate since they needed a stool sample from him for his first visit. Haha He’s such a happy boy and has already brought so much joy to my parents’ home with his goofy personality. The neighborhood squirrels may not like him but we adore him. β€ We’ve been working on tricks and he currently knows “Sit”, “Lay Down” and “Speak”. He’s also really good at solving dog treat puzzles. ^_^

That’s pretty much it for my updates for March. I tried to focus on the more positive stuff for my post but it was definitely a month with its fair share of worry and tears. Hopefully April will be better. π How was your March? Oh, yeah, and Happy Spring! π
Β
Funny, it was the same for me and my wife. I never had a cat before getting together with her, now I just bought some $80 imported water fountain for my cat princess too. So very spoiled.

Luna is looking healthy and cute, wonderful to see her in fine fettle and well taken care of. Bailey as always is a cutie and Salem sends his love! I’m so sorry to hear of your loss of a good friend, it’s always hard to lose someone you love, but you’ll always have those wonderful memories of time spent together to reflect upon, my friend. Hope you and your family are well, take care and stay safe. (and watch Robocop! lol) π

I LOVE that Chris has gone full blown cat dad. If anyone needs all the love and spoiling, it’s Her Highness Queen Bailey. β€
I'm sorry that you've had a kind of bummer of a month and lost a dear friend. It's officially spring now so maybe we can finally look forward to doing some fun things, specifically TOGETHER. We'll be having that BBQ/Dog Party before you know it!
Honestly, a grumpy hedgehog sounds kind of freaking adorable.
When do you get your new art tablet?

Haha me too! ^_^ It makes my heart so happy. β€
Thanks, luv. β€ I know, I can't wait either!
I can't remember if we've already talked about the art tablet thing or not, but since they'll be putting out a new one later this year, I'm waiting so the price on the one I want will drop a nice little chunk. π

I have died and gone to hedgehog heaven! β€ β€ β€ I didn't know getting big girl quills could be painful. That's not great! I got my cat a ball of yarn this weekend and have been playing with that. She loves string, for some reason, but regular toys or feather things. I taught her to sit for treats, so here's to the dog learning lots of tricks easily!

Also, the girl with the umbrella image is lovely. I feel that one.

I didn’t have a job for one semester (I was a professor), and so it just just me in her face all day, lol.

Aww no, Iβm so sorry about your friend. It sounds like things have been rather full-on lately, and a loss like that canβt have been easy.
Your art is absolutely incredible. I finally got an Apple Pencil for my mid-size iPad last year but Iβve only used it once. I suck at art. Big time. I have no idea how on earth youβve managed these. Freaking awesome. And little Luna is a sweetheart – look at that tiny face and ickle nose! Iβve learned something new here too as Iβd never even heard of quilling before. Sounds like your parentsβ fur baby is doing well too, he looks like a happy dude!
After some rough times, I really hope there are brighter days just around the corner. Take good care of yourself lovely. Spring is definitely on the way! π»

Aw, thank you so much! β€ I really appreciate that.
Oooh, those apple pencils are so amazing. They write/draw like a dream compared to a lot of the other pens for digital drawing.
Yeah, quilling was all new to us too!
Thank you again for all the kind words and support. You take care too! β€ β€ β€

Mr. TSN was the same with my Kin-mei lol. Neither of them were sure of the other, but he understood that I’d had Kin-mei first. Now he’s the one who generally cleans the litter boxes (thank goodness because sometimes I literally don’t have the energy) and feeds them in the morning and evening, though of course they beg us both for food.
I watched a Let’s Play of Mario 3D and Bowser’s Fury! it looks like a lot of fun and I’m glad i was able to help you out from what sounds like a stressful March β₯

So, sooo sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine losing someone so dear to me and I hope I won’t have to go through something like that anytime soon. I’m glad to hear you were still able to make the most of your month though! Happy drawing and reading! π
