Secretly this past month, behind the scenes, this ignited moth has been busy. Today marks one month since I’ve started my own personal writing goal for the summer. You always see the “Hot Girl Summer” hashtag so I tweaked the name and dubbed this summer “Writer Girl Summer”. π I have a tendency to want to work on a million things at once, but this summer my focus is on writing (with the exception of a couple small drawing challenges like the Shark Week art challenge I previously posted). The goal is simple: take the scraps of writing I’d previously been working on, the very detailed plot outline, and a metric fuck ton of caffeine, and use this summer to complete the first draft for my book I’m working on.
I feel like this past month was REALLY productive, but the past couple days I’ll admit, I’ve been slacking, so what better way to get motivated again than to hold myself accountable by posting about it here on my blog? π Changing some of my writing habits has been really helpful, and I really want to keep that momentum going.
What are you working on this summer? π Do you find that the more people you talk to about your goals, the more successful you are in the long run? I’m sure hoping that sharing my writing journey here will help keep me on track. π

It’s great that you’ve been productive with your writing! I myself am editing my latest manuscript, and that’s my least favourite part of the process. Wishing you all the best with your WIPs!

Thank you so much! π
Congrats on being at the editing part of your latest work. I can definitely see where that part wouldn’t be your favorite. Happy writing and editing to you too! π

Go girl – donβt worry about being right, just write!! π
Iβm deliberately keeping life goal-free this summer, but embarking on a Masters program in Novemberβ¦ that should keep me out of mischief for a few years π

Thank you so much! π That’s definitely been a hard part for me, but I think I’m finally embracing that “just write” practice. π
I think making this summer goal-free before you go for your Masters is a great idea. Enjoy your summer and best of luck with your classes! How exciting! π

Good luck with your scribe aspirations, my friend, look forward to your writer girl summer output in the near future! π As for me, most of the Summer output over at the ol’ Precinct will be 90% Wonder Woman based as we near her 80th birthday. π

And what a great way to celebrate the big 8-0 for WW. ^_^

I’m so excited to see the progress that you make! π
You know me, I’m just focusing on finishing this semester with school. Then, during the 3 weeks I have off before the next semester starts, I’ve got to cram in SO many house chores before school sucks up all my time again. :3 Definitely not taking any classes next summer.
Writer Girl Summer will probably almost bump up to NanoWrimo!

I think taking next summer off from classes will be great for you to get a break and have more time to enjoy the season. π
Yeah, you're right, I hadn't even thought about how Writer Girl Summer pretty much leads right into NaNoWriMo.

That’s good though! Keep the focus going. π

Despite having three degrees in creative writing (lol, don’t do that), whenever I sit down to write fiction, I just want to slither off my chair and die. This summer, I’ve mostly been eating ice cream on Sundays and getting ready to go to school in the fall for the ASL interpreting program. Right now I’m super nervous because this is a tiny liberal arts school, where apparently they do everything for you? I’m like, “Bruh, how do I sign up for classes?” and they’re like, “We’ll figure something out!” I have faith, but, like, I’m not used to this.

Oh, wow! Yeah, that is interesting that they handle everything for you. I can see where that would be weird at first but it’ll probably be nice in the long run since it takes some extra stress/duties off you. π
Also, now I totally want some ice cream. That sounds like a great Sunday tradition. ^_^

Oooooh, I hope you get some good ice cream. In Michigan, Hudsonville ice cream is my jam. You can go there and get it, or you can get it in the store.

Ooh, I’ve actually only ever had it from the store, but they definitely do have good ice cream! π

I hope your writing project works out for this summer! It’s definitely not easy but splitting it up in smaller objectives will surely help. Adding the pressure of being accountable through your blog is another excellent way to guilt your way into getting it done too! π Good luck!

Haha yeah, it’s definitely already gotten me back on track a couple times. π

That is so awesome! I do love waving at deadlines as they pass me by XD I’m terrible at keeping them and have found I work best if I set small goals with no real end date in mind. You’ve got this!

Yeah, small goals are fantastic. π I used to always set these big goals for everything and it gets so overwhelming so quickly.

Right?? Sometiems I’ll look at the stuff I have written and think “how in the hell???” but then I have to remember that each day was just a small goal and then another and then another. As long as you keep pushing forward you’ll make progress β₯
