Does anyone else look forward to when Goodreads posts your “Year in Books” at the end of the year? π I always think it’s fun looking back on things you’ve done throughout the year, so maybe that is something I’ll try to keep better track of in 2022 in general. For now, though, I’ll just let GR do most of the work.
This year I surpassed my goal of reading 30 books/graphic novels, and read a total of 45. (Though, let’s be honest, A LOT of those were graphic novels this year.) π
The SHORTEST book I read was: The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, at 118 pages.
The LONGEST book was: NOS4A2 by Joe Hill, at 692 pages.
Favorite Buddy Read of the Year: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of AzkabanΒ by J.K. Rowling
Favorite Novel I Read This Year: The Graveyard BookΒ by Neil Gaiman
Favorite Graphic Novel I Read This Year: I literally read all 34 volumes of the manga ofΒ Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama, so I think it’s a safe bet to say this one took the cake for me in 2021. π
How was your own year in reading? What was your favorite book/graphic novel you read in 2021? How many books do you hope to read in 2022?

Nice job! I do love how GR gives you all the stats. It would be nice to find one that breaks it up into genres too. π

I haven't gotten a chance to check it out yet, but apparently The Storygraph is kind of like Goodreads, but it does pie charts by genre and other categories too. π It sounds like it would be neat to check out.

The time machine is brilliant! The movie is good too actually. Spotify offer up something similar with what youβve listened to (music, podcasts) and itβs always fun to see.

Haven’t seen the movie. I’ll have to check it out some time.
And that’s really cool to know about Spotify. Thanks for the heads up! π

Nice work lady! (I do like that GR gives you a yearly rundown too.)
I am about to finish the book I’ve been working on for a month and then I’m reading the last available volume of Saga. Then, I will have reached my reading goal for the year. I considered trying to squeeze another book in while I’m on break before next semester but I think I might just binge movies for awhile. π

I know by the time I’m commenting on this that you completed your GR challenge for the year, so congrats!! β€

Great list my friend. π Personal favourite reads this year were the fantastic graphic novel version of Wonder Woman: Warbringer and the Rorschach maxi-series by Tom King and Jorge Furnes, both are highly recommended. π

Thank you!
I really enjoyed the novel for Warbringer when I read it to my class at work, so I’d love to read the graphic novel version sometime and see how they compare. π

15 over your goal, thatβs awesome!!
I don’t keep track of what I read anymore. Years ago I had a spreadsheet because I used to write reviews for them all on this site that doesn’t exist any more. Now I have to rely on my memory, and that’s useless π
I love the creepy cover for Attack On Titan.
Have you read Horns by Joe Hill? Really different and pretty cool. I hadnβt come across NOS4A2 before so Iβll have to check that one out. xx

Haha I'd be lost if I had to rely on memory alone. When I was looking back on my year wrap-up GR gave me I was like, "That was THIS year?? I feel like I read that 2 years ago!" lmao
And yes!! π I have read Horns (and seen the movie) and I really enjoyed them both. I hope you enjoy NOS4A2 just as much as I did when you get to reading it.

It took me waaaaaaaay too long to realize NOS4A2U meant Nosferatu. I mean, come on eyeballs, get it together. If you use The Storygraph instead of Goodreads, it will give you pie charts by genre, fiction vs nonfiction, how long your books were, etc. The problem is, people are really up to their necks in Goodreads because we’ve all been on there for so long.

Hahaha C&M was the one who first told me about that book, so I can only imagine how long it would have taken me to get it, too. π
That sounds really cool about The Storygraph. I’ll have to check that out. Thanks! π

I loved The Graveyard Book and just got around to reviewing it (I think I finished it back in 2018…I’m SO behind him my reviews o.O). I’m glad Goodreads does the yearly wrap up so I can compare it to my own spreadsheet lol. For some reason GR had me finishing a book twice so it was one more than what I had. I’m still over my challenge regardless and I think I’m going to up it next year and try to catch up on series I’ve left by the wayside π

Nice! That’s a good reading goal to make for the year. π
I’ve been trying to summon the energy to reorganize my book shelf in our room so that the top shelf is just filled with books I want to try to read in 2022, but it just hasn’t happened yet.
I can’t wait to read your review for The Graveyard Book. It was such an enjoyable read. β€

I made a bookshelf just for books I need to read. It’s smaller but still filled to the brim, and that’s just the physical books! I know I have even more on my Kindle and now that I found the library’s eBook page I have access to even more o.O
