It’s that magical time of year again, guys! ❤ SHARK WEEK! ❤
It’s no secret around here that I friggin’ LOVE sharks. I love marine life in general, but sharks always take the cake for me. Needless to say, this week it’s all about sharks on my blog. 🙂 Even at work, I’ve planned my weekly activities with our finned friends in mind. I’ll have my group doing shark arts and crafts, doing cool mini-lessons about them, and making shark-themed snacks and desserts for cooking! I can’t wait! A few of my awesome participants love sharks as much as I do so I can’t wait to see what they think of the activities I have planned. 😀
Do you tune into Shark Week each year? What are you looking forward to seeing? I personally would be thrilled to see more love for the sharks that aren’t great whites. Great whites are awesome too, but there are SO MANY amazing and fascinating types of sharks out there that they could cover. Gimme those whale sharks, your Greenland sharks, threshers, goblin sharks, gimme ALL the sharks! I get that great whites are what the average person thinks of when they picture sharks, but all the more reason to mix it up a little. 😉
So, what can you expect to see around here this week? More shark doodles from yours truly, updates about what shark projects we’re doing at my work this week, a special spotlight post on a great artist with a mission, and more! I hope you guys enjoy the posts and have a JAWSOME Shark Week! ❤
Woo! My favorite week for television is upon us: SHARK WEEK! 😀 I don’t watch a whole lot of TV, but when Shark Week is on, Discovery Channel reigns supreme in my home. I love sharks (and marine life in general) so an entire week of non-stop specials about sharks is always a big plus in my book. 😉 Let the binge-watching begin!
In honor of Shark Week, I will be posting multiple shark-related posts throughout the week that I’ve been putting together. You can count on there being a couple new drawings and plenty of snazzy shark facts I thought you guys might find interesting. I’ve got several posts that shine a light on some of my favorite types of sharks. 🙂 Hopefully you will enjoy reading the posts as much as I’ve been enjoying creating them. ❤
So, how about you? Are any of you fine folks planning to partake in the “Jawsome” glory that is Shark Week? Any particular sharks you’re hoping to see and/or learn more about from this year’s specials? Ever seen or encountered a shark in real life?? Let’s talk SHARKS!! 😀
Aaaaand on a related note, I’m still attempting to catch up on reading other blogs after my recent absence. There’s so much to catch up on and I look forward to seeing what everyone has been up to. 🙂 It’s amazing how fast you can get behind and how long it takes to try to catch up. Wish me luck! 😉
Is anyone else watching the amazingly chaotic gore-fest that is Syfy’s Blood Drive? I’ve been tuning in since it premiered in June and I’m absolutely loving it! Granted, I do love me some B-Horror goodness, so I may be biased. 😉 (This show certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, so you’ve been warned). Blood Drive knows its audience, and it caters to them with all the classic horror tropes (as well as plenty of new messed up antics all their own) and all the buckets of fake blood one could ask for.
The show mainly follows Arthur Bailey (a good cop in a bad situation) and Grace d’Argento (a ruthless racer who will do whatever it takes to save her sister). The world is a dystopian cesspool of homicidal maniacs, cars that fuel up on human blood, diabolical corporations, and countless horrors around each and every corner. Don’t believe me? Check the trailer out for yourself! 😀
Blood Drive is just so damn fun. Even the “bad guys” are highly entertaining. I use quotes for the bad guys part because in this show, just about everyone is forced to push the limits into “bad guy” territory from time to time. The theatrical ringleader of the mayhem going on in the Blood Drive races, Julian Slink is just the kind of villain I love to watch. He’s a wicked bastard through and through, but he’s so over the top and twisted that it’s just really, really fun to watch.
You can tell when you watch this show that it must really be a labor of love. The creators of the series go the extra mile with fake commercials within the show, old school horror style promos for each week’s coming episode, and they even have a complaint hotline for those who are offended by all the gore/language/sexual content/etc. within the series. With the phone number including “D.G.A.F.” as part of its number, one has to commend them on their massive levels of sass. 😛
All in all, Blood Drive should prove a great time for horror fans. I know I certainly enjoy it. Season 1 is set to air 13 episodes in total, with episode 6 airing later this week. It’s a great blend of inappropriate humor and horror, so be sure to check it out if those things are what you’re into! 😛
Things have been so busy lately, but I decided to put off some stuff and indulge in a lazy weekend with my boyfriend. I’m so glad I did. It was nice to get in some quality time together and just relax. During this time we also binge-watched season 7 of the American version of Shameless. Which, if you have not yet seen, is a hilarious and oftentimes shocking comedy-drama TV series that fully lives up to its name.
The show follows the exploits of the dysfunctional Gallagher family living in the South Side of Chicago. William H. Macy plays Frank Gallagher, a drunken druggie of a dad who never ceases to shock viewers with all of his scheming antics in the daily grind to get by via any means necessary. Unfortunately for his six children, his motivations in life tend to be for his own selfish agenda rather than theirs, leaving them to fend for themselves with the oldest, Fiona, at the wheel. Thankfully, they are a resourceful bunch.
The show’s definitely for mature audiences. Loaded with sex, violence, drug and alcohol use, profanities galore, and whatnot, it’s definitely not for the little ones.
It was crazy watching the seventh season (which still has the same main title sequence as season 1 did) and seeing just how much the kids in the show have grown since the start of the series. You see this family and their friends go through A LOT throughout the different seasons. Some moments and really good, some are horrible levels of rock bottom, and some are just plain WTF-inducing shenanigans. There’s never a dull moment, in fact there are plenty of moments that will leave you flat out stunned. A lot of times it’s like a train wreck and you just can’t look away. I’d say give it a shot if you haven’t yet seen it. You’ll either be addicted like I am, or completely turned off of it.
