Hi, there! Hope you guys are doing well. ❤ In my previous post I mentioned how the trials of sorting out my mental health have not been without its ups and downs, but how I was finally starting to work on creative stuff again. …Guys… it’s been absolutely amazing being back at it. I am someone who thrives off doing creative things just about every day, so to experience the dry spell I recently had where I had no desire to write or draw or do much of anything with my solo free time was a nightmare.
I’m so happy to be working on my hobbies again. I have really been enjoying working on the next draft for the book I’ve been writing, and I also have plans this week to get together with a friend to create some art. Hopefully I’ll have some new illustrations and maybe even a painting or something to share with you guys soon. 😉
I’ve also become a lot more outgoing recently. It’s been kind of surreal learning how to live a less anxious and more focused life, but hearing the positive changes my loved ones have been seeing really makes me feel like I’m headed in the right direction. ❤
Now that it’s summer, what things are you guys looking forward to the most? How are your hobbies going? I’m looking forward to more time spent with amazing friends (like this past weekend we spent with Mr. and Mrs. Cupcakes & Machetes having fun) and doing the things I love to do, as well as trying new things along the way as well! 🙂
To say creativity has been a struggle lately would be a vast understatement. Trying to finally tackle my depression, anxiety, and apparently ADD (look at that, I’m a triple threat now!) has been an entire process. I’m still only in the beginnings of this journey despite dealing with all 3 issues pretty much forever, but there is definitely an overall improvement in my quality of life even if things aren’t perfect.
I’ve been waiting for the urge to create things to return for several weeks now. This weekend I finally was able to scratch that itch. Mr. Moth and I just enjoyed a lazy weekend without any set plans of things to do and I found myself writing again and drawing this devil mermaid because Hell deserves mermaids too, damnit! 😛
What’s your go-to self care tactics for boosting your mental health? Also, what creative things are you guys all working on these days?? 🙂
Phew, looks like it’s time to clear out some of the dust and cobwebs from this little old blog! It’s been over a month since my last post. Life has been hectic (which I’m coming to realize is just kind of my norm anymore) and I’ve been in a weird funk adjusting to some major changes in my day to day life. Anyway, I won’t bore ya with the details, but I will say it’s good to be back. ❤ Special thanks to my partner in crime (Cupcakes and Machetes) for the reminder and motivational kick in the ass to get back to blogging! 😉
Part of the moody little funk I’ve been in has had me watching a lot more TV and movies than I usually do. Generally it’s something I can’t stand to do for long (even if I’m really enjoying the content) but yeahhh, the struggle’s been real.
One show I’ve gotten into recently is A Discovery of Witches. I also added the first book of the series to my TBR list. Has anyone read them? Any good? Inquiring minds wanna know! I am consistently blown away by the “scenery porn” as I call it. Seriously, every episode just has absolutely gorgeous background scenery that makes me want to pack my bags and get traveling right this instant. The show definitely goes at a slowww pace which might bore some viewers, but (oddly enough) I’m enjoying it. It’s keeping my interest. I mean, with witches, vampires, demons and alchemy, how could it not? Anyone else watching it?
Another show I surprised myself with recently was the new Netflix show Dead to Me. Totally not my usual type of show, but I binge-watched the whole first season in a shamefully fast amount of time.
Oh, and of course, it’s Game of Thrones season, so ya know, Mr. Moth and I have been screaming and cheering at the TV each Sunday night like a couple of rabid football fans during the Super Bowl. It’s so bitter-sweet knowing it’s the final season! Can’t wait to see how it all ends. 😀
Another show I got into is The Act on Hulu. Based off the real life murder of Dee Dee Blanchard and the events that led up to it. It gives some dark insight into the abuse and manipulation that went on in that home. It was really interesting to watch and I remember being blown away by the case when it hit the news, so the show drew me right in as well.
ANYWAY, despite currently being sick with a cold I’m determined to pull myself out of this little funk by my bootstraps. Time to dive back into being productive and getting shit DONE. I hope you guys have all been doing well, and I look forward to catching up with all my awesome blogging buddies! ❤

Three Things About Little Ol’ Me:
Hmmm . . . I’m going to try to think of three things about myself I have yet to talk about in this blog. This might be a bit tricky though since I think I’m pretty open about things here.
Thing #1: I like to do volunteer work. I’ve volunteered as a side walker at an equine therapy place for people with mental and/or physical disabilities, and at a farm animal sanctuary with Cupcakes and Machetes, and also for part of a tutoring group a few years back when I was taking classes toward getting certified as a PCT. I’d love to do more volunteering in the near future as well. My family was also really involved in foster care for rescue dogs when I was younger. I think it’s important to help out in the community. Never underestimate the difference it can make.
Thing #2: Most people have birthday cake to celebrate their birthday, but my mom always makes me banana cream pie with a shortbread crust. It’s sooo good.
Thing #3: I am, and always have been, a TERRIBLE liar. Which is kind of a good thing because I don’t like to lie anyway, but I mean my poker face is virtually nonexistent. In fact, I usually start smiling or laughing because it’s so uncomfortable for me. In the past year and a half I’ve started playing tabletop games and there are some that are just impossible for me to play, like Sheriff of Nottingham. This game involves the players having to bluff and lie and trick the player who happens to be the sheriff at that given time. Let’s just say, they always figure me out. lol
Kate’s Questions / My Answers:
Question 1: What or who inspired you to blog?
I think I’d say fellow blogger Cupcakes and Machetes really got me into blogging. We’re BFFs in real life and we tend to enjoy a lot of the same things and do them together. We’ve even co-written a few different older blogs together in the past. So you can blame her for my long-winded ramblings here. 😛
Question 2: What was the biggest obstacle you overcame last year? Or recently, really?
Well, this is a pretty heavy question for me, but I’m going to say depression. Just about two years ago now I went through something that emotionally gutted me. It seriously broke me. It’s difficult even thinking back on the low point I hit mentally after that. My mental health was dangerously low and it took some serious time and support to get through it. It really affected my confidence, my entire way of thinking about not only myself, but life in general. It definitely changed me as a person but I survived and got through it.
Question 3: What’s your every day mantra?
Take things one day at a time. Accomplish small goals that will add up to the bigger ones you desire. All accomplishments, no matter how small, are still moving you in the right direction. The best things in life don’t come easily so keep at it. Each and every day.
Question 4: If you’re allowed one impossible thing only you can do, what would that be?
Teleport! 😀 I think it would be amazing to be able to just see the world. Visit anyone or any place at any time you wanted. Think of all the amazing things you’d be able to see and learn and experience.
Question 5: What’s your spiritual mythical creature?
As of right now I’d have to say a phoenix. As cliche as it sounds I got burnt. Bad. And now I’m working toward rising from the ashes. It isn’t an instant rise, but most aren’t. I hope to keep at it and get there soon though! I’m on a path of self improvement and very determined.
My Best Post?
Um . . . I don’t know! lol I think the ones I do about writing in general tend to do the best as far as likes and new visitors if you’re speaking from a technical standpoint.
