Inktober 2019: Week 3 Roundup

Another week of Inktober bites the dust and I’m still chugging along right on track. šŸ™‚ This month’s art challenge has been incredibly inspiring for me. I am drawing more than I have in a long time and a large reason for that was always a “lack of time”. This just shows that with some major determination and motivation, I can manage to make more time for the things I love. It’s been a great experience so far. ā¤

Day 15: The daily prompt was ā€œLEGENDā€ and I was not up for anything too ambitious since I was still feeling sick. I originally wanted to do a legendary creature and wound up doing Beefsquatch (Bob’s Burgers) which is sorta kinda maybe legend-ish, right? šŸ˜›

Day 16: The daily prompt was ā€œWILDā€ and I went with Max from Where the Wild Things Are.

Day 17: The daily prompt was ā€œORNAMENTā€ and I wanted to make a Halloween-themed ornament.

Inktober17

Day 18: The daily prompt was ā€œMISFITā€ and my brain went straight to the band The Misfits. I don’t usually draw see-through things like glass so this was an ambitious piece of fan art for me to work on, but I’m pleased with how it came out. šŸ™‚

Day 19: The daily prompt was ā€œSLINGā€ and what a random prompt that was! I wasn’t sure where this piece was going to end up when I started it but I’m happy with the end result.

Inktober19

Day 20: The daily prompt was ā€œTREADā€ and it instantly brought to mind the saying “tread carefully”.

Inktober20

Day 21: The daily prompt was ā€œTREASUREā€ and my original intent was to make a pirate in this pose but for some reason once I drew the face it just screamed Catwoman to me and I went with it. šŸ™‚

So, that’s that for this week. šŸ™‚ I’m determined to keep my momentum with Inktober and finish strong. How’s your October been so far? What’s everyone being for Halloween this year? If we’re buddies over onĀ Instagram you’ve probably already seen the look Mr. Moth and I are rocking this year, but I’ll do a post here soon with our costumes and recent shenanigans we’ve been up to.

Past Pumpkin Carvings

Like many other Halloween fiends, I love carving pumpkins this time of year. So I thought I’d share some of the pumpkins I’ve carved from years gone by with you guys. Above is my Jack Skellington pumpkin I carved.

I love so many of the baddies from the Super Mario games, so above is my Boo pumpkin and below is my goomba one. One of these days I’d like to take a stab (heh) at a shy guy pumpkin carving, too.

I’ve got a thing for carving video game characters apparently, because here’s my Super Meat Boy pumpkin carving. It was the first time I shaved the skin out of the pumpkin rather than just carving chunks out, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out. Even if it did take forever to do. šŸ˜›

And like my other The Nightmare Before Christmas pumpkin pictured at the top of this post, I of course had to do an Oogie Boogie one. šŸ˜›

Last year’s pumpkin carving was an owl. Originally I had wanted to try the pumpkin shaving thing again but then I remembered how insanely time consuming it had been and quickly abandoned the idea. Hence the random shaved off bits on the owl. lol

Are you planning on carving or painting any pumpkins this year? What are you thinking of making? šŸ™‚

Halloween in December: Why Not?

Procrastination is a skill of mine. I’ve pretty much mastered it over the years. Hence why I am just now getting around to posting my pumpkin I carved back in October in December.

Hey, if the retail stores insist on playing Christmas music before Halloween is even over why can’t I post Halloween pictures in December??

So tonight, on the night I am decorating the tree and beginning to wrap gifts, I present you with this Halloween’s owl pumpkin carving I did:

Why? Because better late than never! šŸ˜›
