Happy Spring, everybody!! ❤ Life’s been quite topsy-turvy as of late, but thankfully, things are looking up. 🙂 I (like many of us, I’m sure) am beyond thrilled that spring is finally upon us. With all the snow and ice and winter vortex business we’ve been dealing with the past few months, warmer days are definitely something to look forward to. Plus, no more of those horrible “winter hands” from all that cold, dry air. You know what I’m talking about. 😉
So, with spring here, I’m curious what everyone is looking forward to the most? I just bought one of those little pop-up greenhouses today so now I’m even more excited for gardening than I already was. 😀 The past couple years I’ve taken to going outside and taking lots of photos of all the flowers and plants. I’m no pro or anything like that, but it’s something I’ve come to enjoy doing, so expect plenty of outdoors pics in the months to come!
Anyway, even though I’d been too sick/busy/exhausted to do much blogging in the last few weeks, it was never totally far from my mind. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the direction I want to take the blog in and what kind of posts I really wanna focus on. I also definitely want to give the whole look of the blog a major re-haul before July when this little baby blog turns three whole years old!
Anyway, I’m keeping this post short and sweet, but it’s good to be back. Looking forward to catching up with everyone and I hope you’ve all been well. 🙂 Lemme know what you’ve been up to and what adventures you’re planning for spring!
Brrrr! My portion of Michigan is currently under a Wind Chill Warning from the National Weather Service that included fun little details like “Wind chills as low as 45 below zero expected.” and “The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.” So, basically, stepping outside right now is like getting bitch slapped by a Wampa.
With all the snow and ice we’ve had lately I’ve been on a little unplanned vacation due to all the snow days at my work. All the schools are closed due to the weather so I’ve been able to stay cozy at home and do a bunch of writing, reading and drawing which has been really nice! 🙂 I hadn’t planned on taking my birthday off from work so it’s kind of a fun little surprise having it off today. Mother Nature can be cruel AND kind. 😉
It can be difficult finding ways to go out and celebrate your birthday when you were born in the frigid dead of winter, but this year I managed to celebrate AND stay warm, so it was a win-win. Mr. and Mrs. Cupcakes and Machetes came to stay the weekend, which included going to dinner, going to a giant arcade, prezzies of the most epic caliber, and board games galore! I also celebrated with family before the weekend came to an end, and of course that was fun too because my parents and brother (and the puggies!) are awesome. Needless to say, it was a fun but exhausting weekend, so I wasn’t totally heartbroken when school/work was canceled. 😉 (The only thing that sucks is not getting paid for all these snow days!)
Poor Mr. Moth had to hop on his tauntaun and brave the cold today to go to work so I plan on getting good and properly caffeinated and writing my butt off. More birthday shenanigans to ensue once he gets home, but for now I’m off to work on my book with an awesome new writing program courtesy of the bestest friend in all the land, C&M. ❤
Hope any of you a bitter cold winter like us is staying as warm and cozy as possible right now. ❤
Yay! Not only does it finally feel like spring here in Michigan, but it’s also Earth Day! 🙂 It was the perfect day to get outside, enjoy some fresh air, and start planning for this year’s gardening.
After an absolutely fabulous margarita-drag queen-and-true crime-filled start to the weekend with Cupcakes and Machetes, today was a laid back, lazy day mostly spent outside. I went out with my mom to a fantastic garden center and nursery that was having some really good sales. Here’s some pics from my little plant haul:
I didn’t get a pic of the cherry bush I bought my mom as an early Mother’s Day gift, but she was really excited about it. 🙂 The place we went to was wonderful and I wanted to buy all the things. (Especially with all the great deals they had going on.)
I hope everyone is having an amazing Earth Day and that the weather where you’re at allows you to get out and fully enjoy the great outdoors. ❤ Considering it was about a week ago that I had to literally chisel my way into my car because it was completely covered in a thick layer of ice, I was more than ready for some nice weather like this.
Aaaand here’s some cute little garter snake buddies I crossed paths with while out and about today.
Woo! It’s September 22nd and you know what that means! It’s the first official day of fall (aka: the best season ever)! Aaand, it also just so happens to be Hobbit Day, the birthday of both Frodo and Bilbo Baggins.
It’s the perfect day to curl up with one of Tolkien’s books (or the movies that came after them) and enjoy your favorite fall drinks and treats while you get all cozy. ❤ And it’s Friday, so why not just continue doing so right on through the weekend? 😛
