Home Sweet Home

I just love when the magnolia trees are in bloom. ❀

So, spring is in the air and I’m officially all settled in at the new house, and although some stuff is still in boxes, I’m mostly unpacked. Moving is nothing new to me, but this move in particular felt like a big one since it involved me officially moving in with my boyfriend. It’s a big step, but we’re both really happy together and I’m glad we finally made this exciting leap. πŸ™‚

It’s been fun watching and seeing (and guessing) what’s all growing at the new house as the weather keeps improving. We’ve got a wild cherry tree and weeping cherry tree both in bloom right now, a tall row of blackberry bushes, a bunch of hosta plants, some peonies, I think we may have some hydrangea, a lilac tree (that technically is in the neighbor’s yard, but some of the branches hang over in ours, so I’m counting it lol), a few tulips, lily of the valley, and more. I can’t wait to see what else pops up next.

One thing’s for sure: there is going to be plenty of weeding to do. Meh!

The greenhouse goodies are doing great, too. It’s awesome eating salads with the lettuce you grow at home. I need to do something soon with some of the parsley and basil, and the pea plant is continuing to grow as well (no peas yet, but that’s okay). The strawberry plant has flowers on it, and the cherry bush I got my mom for Mother’s Day is also flowering.

How’s your spring going so far? It feels good to be blogging again and catching up with you guys. ❀ There’s such an awesome community here and I’m so glad to be a part of it. Are any of you growing your own plants right now? πŸ™‚ I’m just a novice at it, but I’m greatly enjoying it.

  1. This is such an awesome post and congrats! Wishing you the best. I have to say that your pics are so beautiful! You should do flower friday. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

We have a good amount growing right now but no plants in the garden yet. I planted some kale and lettuce in my greenhouse and it’s close to harvest. Glad about that lol! Thanks so much for sharing this lovely post and take care. ❀❀❀

And thank you for the encouragement to participate in Flower Friday! I always love seeing your FF posts, so I may just have to take your advice and participate in it, too. πŸ˜€
Yum! That's awesome that you've got kale growing at home. Kale is just sooo good! I love sauteing it up with some garlic! ❀ I hope you have a great gardening season, and a great weekend!

      1. I’m going to have to try to saute it like that one day. I honestly have only eaten raw like in smoothies or kale chips. Good idea! Take care. ❀

    1. Thank you! ❀ Yes, after that horrid winter that just didn't seem like it wanted to end, I'm definitely glad Spring is back, too. πŸ˜€ That last ice storm we got here in April was just terrible. I'm ready for sunny, breezy days. πŸ™‚

  2. The previous owners must have had a green thumb, those are some awesome trees and plants! Blackberry bush….girl you’re gonna have to get to some baking when those bad boys are ripe. (Or bring them over and I’ll make you things. ^.^) Our peonies are growing like crazy so hopefully we’ll have some buds soon. πŸ™‚

    1. Ooh, good idea. πŸ˜€ Makes me think of that amazing raspberry jam you and I made a couple years back. Yum! ❀
Glad to hear your peonies are growing so well. I know, I can't wait for ours to bloom, either. πŸ˜€

    1. Yeah, magnolias are just gorgeous. ❀
Haha I feel ya on the weeds thing. I was hoping to get out there today and de-weed the heck out of the front and back yard but it's pouring rain outside. I guess I'll just stay inside and read and write today instead. Oh, darn! πŸ˜›

  3. That’s really great love. It is a big step but if you’re happy you’re happy and that’s it. Always chase the rainbow hehe. My friend cut down his thirty year old Magnolia tree and grinded
It up. I didn’t know until I turned up at his place to see it was gone. When I told him how much it was worth he almost cried. If I lived closer I’d be your gardener with mates rates. I enjoy weeding believe it or not haha.

Oh no! That’s so awful about your friend’s magnolia tree. Such a shame.
Haha and that would be awesome if we lived closer and could get some of your awesome gardening help. I could definitely use it, that’s for sure. Especially since you actually enjoy weeding. πŸ˜›
I’m really hoping to spruce things up around the yard once I see what all I’ve got to work with out here. πŸ™‚

  4. Woohooo, great to hear you’re settled in now aside from further unboxing. It’s an amazing new chapter for you and your boyfriend so enjoy every minute of it (even the dreaded weeding). The flowers look beautiful! IT goes without saying that I wish you the very best! Looking forward to hearing how things are coming along in the upcoming weeks πŸ™‚
